Technical Migration Lead (Jira Cloud) - Tier 1 Investment Bank

London (Hybrid - 3 days onsite) Up to £850/day (Inside IR35) ASAP Start | Initial contract to end of year (likely extension)

A Tier 1 Investment Bank is seeking a Technical Migration Lead to drive a large-scale Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud migration across its Finance & Risk Technology function.

This is a high-impact, infrastructure-focused role supporting a major regulatory-driven data and technology transformation programme, with responsibility for migrating 300-400 Jira projects into a single, governed cloud environment.

The Role

You'll take ownership of a dedicated migration workstream, leading end-to-end delivery across planning, execution, and governance. Working closely with engineering teams, Jira practitioners, and embedded Atlassian specialists, you'll ensure a smooth, controlled transition to Jira Cloud with minimal disruption.

This role sits within a risk technology environment (counterparty credit risk), so exposure to Market Risk, RWA, Basel, or similar domains is highly valuable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end Jira Cloud migration delivery (discovery, mapping, dry runs, cutover, and aftercare)
  • Orchestrate wave-based migration planning across hundreds of projects
  • Drive governance, RAID management, and dependency tracking across workstreams
  • Standardise Jira templates, workflows, and plugin usage in the Cloud environment
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and Jira SMEs to ensure migration readiness and adoption
  • Produce executive reporting, dashboards, and migration KPIs
  • Support data validation, archival strategy, and regulatory evidence requirements
  • Work closely with Atlassian teams embedded in the business
Required Experience
  • Proven experience leading Jira Cloud migrations in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong Jira SME / Administration expertise (Data Center Cloud)
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, plugins such as ScriptRunner, Advanced Roadmaps, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of data migration, scripting, or API-based tooling
  • Experience managing large-scale, multi-team technology workstreams
  • Strong RAID management, governance, and stakeholder communication skills
  • Background in financial services preferred (Market Risk, RWA, Basel, or similar highly desirable)
