User Researcher - Public Sector
6-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Negotiable Day Rate

We are looking for an experienced User Researcher to join a public sector organisation on an initial 6-month contract.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary digital team, helping to ensure services are designed around genuine user needs and supported by robust research and evidence.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver user research across different stages of the service life cycle
  • Conduct qualitative research including interviews, usability testing, contextual research and workshops
  • Identify user needs, behaviours, pain points and opportunities
  • Analyse and synthesise research findings into clear, actionable insights
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Business Analysts and Delivery teams
  • Champion user-centred design and accessibility throughout the development process
  • Communicate research findings effectively to stakeholders and influence service decisions
  • Support continuous improvement of services based on user evidence

Essential experience:

  • Strong commercial experience working as a User Researcher
  • Experience delivering research within agile, multidisciplinary teams
  • Confident using a range of qualitative research methods
  • Experience translating complex research into actionable recommendations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive research practices
  • Public sector or government digital experience would be highly advantageous
