Job DetailsJob Title: MIS Systems & Report WriterDepartment: MIS Campus: Cross CampusSalary: Grade 6 Spine Point 28 - £45,679.44 Contract Type: Permanent, 52 week, 37 hours per week About the RoleAs a Systems and Reporting Developer, you’ll be at the heart of transforming how data drives decision-making across the college. This is a pivotal role where your technical expertise will directly influence the quality, efficiency, and innovation of our Management Information Systems (MIS).You’ll lead the charge in enhancing our reporting infrastructure—designing and developing smarter, more intuitive reporting solutions that empower teams with real-time insights. From streamlining day-to-day technical support to ensuring robust quality assurance, your work will underpin the reliability and accuracy of the data we depend on.Collaboration is key: you’ll work across departments to integrate systems, improve workflows, and identify opportunities for automation and innovation. Whether it's refining existing processes or introducing new technologies, your contributions will help shape a more connected, data-driven college environment.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys working with data and systems, and wants to make a tangible impact on how information supports education and operational excellence.Responsibilities You will be responsible for:
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL-based reports and dashboards
  • Develop data integrations between MIS and other systems
  • Ensure data architecture supports accurate and efficient External Funding Return production
  • Ensure External Funding Returns structure supports all funding streams (16–19, Adult Skills, Advance Learner Loans & Apprenticeships)
  • Collaborate with the Director of MIS & Business Processes to ensure audit-readiness
  • Lead on production of timely, accurate data for KPIs, Ofsted, and other stakeholders
Requirements You will need:
  • High-level SQL and data modelling knowledge
  • Power BI or other dashboarding tools
  • In-depth understanding of Further Education MIS systems and External Funding Returns structure
  • Experience working in or supporting the further education sector
  • The ability to plan and organise a varied and demanding workload under one’s own initiative
  • Ability to innovate and initiate new working practices in order to improve service provision
