People Director, Series B SaaS Scale-up

People Director

Location: London, hybrid

Package: £120,000 - £140,000

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a fast-scaling, venture-backed SaaS platform delivering data and analytics solutions to enterprise clients worldwide. With a global footprint across Europe, North America, and APAC, the business has grown rapidly following its Series B, now approaching 100 people and entering a new phase of operational maturity.

Having built strong foundations in its People systems, processes, and culture, the company is now seeking a strategic and grounded People Director to guide its next chapter.

You’ll work closely with the CEO, shaping the long-term People strategy while remaining comfortable operating hands-on when needed to drive delivery, momentum, and trust.

The Role You’ll Own

  • Lead and evolve the People function as the business transitions from high growth to sustainable scale.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to align people strategy with commercial performance and cost discipline.
  • Coach and develop an ambitious senior leadership group, strengthening leadership maturity and collaboration.
  • Reinforce company culture and connection across distributed, hybrid teams.
  • Optimise performance management, organisational design, and people analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Rebuild confidence in the People function post transition, ensuring continuity and credibility across the organisation.
  • Lead workforce planning and reward strategy in partnership with Finance.

Your Profile

  • Experience within Series A to C SaaS or tech scale-ups, typically between 50 and 300 employees.
  • Broad HR generalist background spanning culture, talent and leadership development.
  • Financially astute and data literate, comfortable translating people insights into commercial recommendations.
  • Empathetic, low ego and pragmatic operator able to build trust quickly across senior teams.
  • Skilled in managing change, conflict and transformation with calm authority.
  • Confident working both strategically and hands-on, adapting your approach to meet the needs of a dynamic scale-up.

Why Join?

  • Strategic impact. Partner directly with the CEO to influence organisational design, leadership capability and long-term people strategy.
  • Reset and rebuild. Shape a mature, transparent culture in a business performing well but navigating an important internal evolution.
  • Global platform, human scale. International reach across multiple continents, yet still small enough that every decision counts.
  • Sustainable growth. A Series B SaaS organisation scaling with intent, disciplined, data-informed and values-led.
  • Modern leadership culture. A pragmatic, high-performance environment that values autonomy, humility and purpose over ego.

We recognise how competitive the current market is for senior People leaders, and Hawkwood is committed to ensuring a confidential, fair and positive candidate experience throughout.
