Systems Accountant

My client is a small London-based charity, based in the City.
Your new role
My role is a Systems Accountant. It will initially be on a 6-month fixed term basis, but could extend.
The Systems Accountant will act as a key link between Finance, IT, CRM developers, operational teams and external implementation partners, ensuring that the new Salesforce solution and its integration meet the organisation's financial, accounting, reporting and control requirements.The role will have particular responsibility for translating finance requirements into system solutions, supporting the design of interfaces between Salesforce and Sage, ensuring data quality and integrity, coordinating testing and reconciliation and supporting successful implementation and transition into business-as-usual operations.Duties will include:

  • Representing Finance within the Salesforce CRM development and implementation project.
  • Working with stakeholders to understand and document current and future finance-related business processes.
  • Translating accounting and finance requirements into clear functional and system requirements for Salesforce developers and implementation partners.
  • Supporting the design of Salesforce functionality relating to customers, products, invoices and other relevant income streams.
  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls, approval processes and audit trails are incorporated into system design.
  • Reviewing proposed Salesforce configurations and developments from a finance and accounting perspective.
  • Identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency through the new CRM.
  • Supporting the design, development and implementation of the integration between Salesforce and Sage 200.
  • Defining and documenting financial data flows between the CRM and accounting system.
  • Ensuring appropriate mapping of customers/accounts, nominal codes, departments, cost centres, tax/VAT codes, products, invoices, credit notes, payments and other relevant financial information.
  • Ensuring transactions are allocated correctly across the organisation's subsidiaries/legal entities.
  • Working with developers and implementation partners to define integration rules, validation requirements and exception-handling processes.
  • Reviewing integration outputs.
  • Establishing robust reconciliation procedures to demonstrate the completeness and accuracy of information transferred between systems.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will have very strong systems skills, as well as previous experience of using Salesforce, ideally having implemented this system.
