API & EDI Integrations Specialist
API & EDI Integrations Specialist Location: Gainsborough Salary: £50-60,000 Hybrid: One day from home after probation (No sponsorship available)
Hays is supporting a long-standing client as they continue their digital growth journey, and we are looking to appoint an API and EDI Integration Specialist who can take full ownership of their integration landscape. This is a newly created role, designed for someone who wants to lead the way systems connect, improve how data moves, and deliver integrations that support a modern, growing business.
You will be part of a supportive Business Systems team, but this area will be yours to run. If you enjoy shaping how integrations work, setting standards, and taking responsibility for delivering clean, reliable connections, this is a strong fit.
You will not be writing code day to day, but you will design the integrations, map the data, and work with developers and partners to bring your solutions to life.
What you will be doing
You will take complete ownership of the API and EDI areas across the business. That means designing how integrations behave, deciding the best technical approach, and being accountable for delivering solutions that work consistently.
You will lead EDI onboarding from the first technical conversation through testing and go live. You will set the standards for integration documentation, ensure data mapping is accurate, and monitor performance to keep everything running smoothly. When something needs improving, you will be the one who identifies it, drives it and delivers the fix.You will guide colleagues, partners and customers through integration requirements and be the person who can explain how systems should connect and why. Your work will directly support the wider digital strategy and have a meaningful impact on both customer experience and operational efficiency.
What you will bring
You enjoy taking responsibility for an area and making it your own. You understand how systems fit together and take pride in delivering integrations that are structured, reliable and well documented. You ask the right questions, spot the details that matter, and communicate clearly with people at all levels. You will bring:
- Experience owning or leading API or EDI integration work
- A solid understanding of REST or SOAP principles
- Confidence reading XML and working with structured data
- Knowledge of relational databases or SQL
- A practical understanding of Azure services involved in integration or data pipelines
- Familiarity with Power BI and how reporting relies on integration feeds
- Clear communication skills with both technical and non technical teams
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- A calm, methodical approach to solving problems and delivering improvements
Why this role matters
This is an ownership role where you will shape how systems connect, how data flows and how the business builds the technical foundations needed for continued growth.
You will join a collaborative team, work on meaningful projects and take responsibility for an area that genuinely makes a difference.
