Applications Team Manager

As part of its ongoing investment in digital transformation, it is seeking a technically strong and strategic Applications Team Manager to lead the development, support, and optimisation of internal applications. This is a key leadership role within the IT Directorate, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the organisation. Your new role As Applications Team Manager, you will lead a skilled team responsible for the delivery, maintenance, and support of internal applications and Microsoft-based products. You'll act as a subject-matter expert, providing technical direction and mentoring your team to ensure solutions align with departmental and organisational goals. The role requires a balance of people management, project oversight, and hands-on technical engagement to ensure successful delivery of BAU operations, technical projects, and strategic initiatives. You'll collaborate closely with infrastructure, product, and operations teams, oversee system performance and upgrades, and evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovation and data-informed decision-making. What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing technical support or applications teams
- Strong understanding of application support tools, technologies, and service delivery processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on operational efficiency
- Familiarity with ITIL or similar service management frameworks
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the force area
- Eligibility to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history.
