Data Governance Lead - Engineering Priority Data

Overview A leading financial services organisation is hiring an experienced Data Governance Lead to support a critical, engineering-led initiative.This role will focus on designing and delivering a risk-based data prioritisation methodology for engineering data and records, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and business priorities.Working across engineering, data, and risk teams, you will play a key role in defining how critical data is identified, prioritised, and governed, and in developing a clear roadmap to achieve compliance and improve data governance maturity.This is a hands-on delivery role, requiring someone who has successfully implemented similar frameworks in complex, regulated environments.Details Location - LondonHybrid - 3 days / week in the officeDuration - Initial 6 monthsRate - £750 -£900 / day Inside IR35 via Umbrella Key Responsibilities Design and implement a risk-based data prioritisation methodology, including scoring criteria aligned to business value, risk, and regulatory exposure.Adapt existing enterprise data governance policies to the engineering environmentEngage with senior stakeholders across engineering, data, and risk to drive alignment and secure buy-inApply the methodology to identify and prioritise critical engineering datasets and recordsDevelop a pragmatic roadmap and implementation plan to achieve data conformanceSupport identification of data and record ownership where requiredEnsure outputs are practical, scalable, and embedded into engineering workflows Experience Required Proven experience in data governance, data management, or data strategy delivery rolesDemonstrable experience building and applying data prioritisation frameworks, methodologies, or operating modelsExperience working closely with engineering or technology teamsStrong understanding of risk, regulatory, and compliance-driven data environmentsBackground in financial services or another highly regulated industryExcellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholdersTrack record of delivering practical, implementable outcomes, not just high-level strategyIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.
