Digital Lead
Your new company Over the past few years, our client has evolved into the European hub of a fast-growing, innovation-led semiconductor group. What truly defines them isn't just their technology, but the diverse, talented community behind it, people who share a clear sense of purpose and work together with genuine collaboration and pride. Their teams operate in a modern, fast-paced environment, driving advancements in next-generation touch technologies and exploring what's possible across display and video systems, high-speed AI data processing and wireless connectivity. There's a strong ambition running through the business: to build a world-class enterprise powered by deep technical expertise and continuous innovation.
As part of their expansion, they are now investing further to look for a Digital Lead. This creates an exciting opportunity for a skilled and ambitious individual to join a growing organisation where your work directly shapes new products, influences future technology, and contributes to a company pushing the boundaries of semiconductor development.
Your new role My client is seeking a Digital Lead who will take full ownership of the IC digital roadmap across two expanding markets, touch sensing and automotive MCUs. The role is pivotal in defining and delivering the digital architecture that sits at the core of these next-generation products. You'll begin by working closely with stakeholders to establish clear product definitions and technical objectives, before driving the digital design activities from early architectural modelling through to verification and final validation.
What sets this role apart is the breadth of technical responsibility. You will oversee the creation of advanced capacitive touch controller ICs, incorporating brand-new sensing architectures, while simultaneously contributing to the design of safety-critical automotive MCUs. Ensuring consistency, quality and performance across both lines will require strong technical judgement, a structured engineering mindset and the confidence to lead design reviews and resolve complex technical challenges.
Equally important is the leadership element. You'll manage a dedicated digital team, guiding resource allocation, monitoring progress, and ensuring technical direction remains aligned with project and organisational goals. Working with global partners and internal IP suppliers, you will represent the digital team's needs in key decisions, whether that's IP selection, EDA tool adoption or design-flow optimisation. It's an ideal position for someone who thrives in a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of technology, people and strategy.
What you'll need to succeed My client is looking for a candidate who brings a strong blend of technical rigour and leadership confidence. This role requires someone who has already proven they can manage teams and navigate multiple concurrent projects without losing sight of delivery timelines. You'll need a solid foundation in digital IP development and integration, along with a methodical approach to problem-solving that allows you to explore complex design spaces while maintaining a high level of innovation.
Because the work spans everything from architecture to physical implementation, they're looking for someone who understands the full digital IC lifecycle how to translate a specification into a robust design and guide that all the way through verification, validation and silicon sign-off. Experience in low power design techniques, area optimisation and the selection and evaluation of EDA toolchains will be particularly valuable. A strong understanding of IP supply chains, including maturity models and third party IP quality assessment, will help you thrive in this environment, as will established skills in DfT, DfM, silicon debug and failure-analysis methodologies.
Candidates should hold a BEng or MEng in Engineering, Electronics or a related field, ideally at a 2:1 or equivalent. My client is seeking someone with experience in digital or mixed-signal IC design, plus leading teams or projects. Exposure to mixed-signal design, Python, functional safety standards like ISO-26262, or display-related technologies is a bonus, as is familiarity with JIRA, Confluence or the broader ASIC flow. While not essential, these additional skills help accelerate performance and integration into the wider group.
What you'll get in return
- Yearly bonus based on financial performance and personal contribution
- 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays
- Option to buy and sell holidays up to 5 days a year
- Paid day off for your birthday
- Pension scheme | salary sacrifice, 6% company contribution
- Life insurance | 4x annual salary
- Private medical insurance | Bupa
- Private dental cover | Bupa
- Cycle to work scheme
- Electric car scheme | salary sacrifice
