A market-leading design and manufacturing organisation is seeking an exceptional Engineering Director to join its Executive Leadership Team. This is a rare opportunity to lead a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering function while influencing the strategic direction and long-term success of an innovative international business.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide vision, leadership and direction across Mechanical, Electronics, Embedded Software and Manufacturing Engineering teams. You will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, delivering new product development, enhancing operational performance and ensuring engineering excellence across the organisation.

Your new role

As Engineering Director, you will be responsible for defining and executing the engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, growth plans and future market opportunities.You will oversee the complete product life cycle, from concept and design through development, validation, manufacture and customer support, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and innovation.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the engineering strategy to support business growth and operational objectives.
• Drive product innovation, technology roadmaps and intellectual property development.
• Lead, mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
• Oversee engineering delivery from concept through to successful product launch and manufacture.
• Implement best-in-class engineering processes, governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Product Management, Manufacturing and Operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Manage engineering budgets, forecasting and capital expenditure planning.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, efficiency improvements and value creation.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key international suppliers and partners.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, customer and industry requirements.
• Provide regular performance, risk and KPI reporting to the Executive Team.

What you'll need to succeed

Essential

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
Significant experience in a senior engineering leadership position within a design and manufacturing environment.
Proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Strong strategic leadership capability combined with the ability to drive operational execution.
Experience managing the full product development from concept through to manufacture.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at board and executive level.
Multi-site experience
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting and resource planning.
Demonstrated experience delivering innovation, continuous improvement and organisational growth.

Desirable
Experience operating within fast-paced, technology-led manufacturing environments.
Exposure to international supply chains and supplier relationship management.
Experience leading engineering functions across multiple sites or global operations.
