Field and Lifecycle Services Engineer
Overview Weare seeking an FLS Engineer Grade 1 to join a busy Maintenance Service Centre.supporting the full lifecycle management of IT equipment. This role involvesinspecting, testing, cleaning, tracking, and preparing a wide range of ITdevices while ensuring excellent asset management and customer servicestandards.Location: Hatfield, Maintenance Service Centre,2nd Floor Ops Centre, Hatfield Avenue, Hatfield AL10 9TW Contract: Temporary (6 Months)Start Date: 24 August 2026 End Date: 19 February 2027 Hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Shift flexibilityrequired between 07:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 7.5-hour shifts with 30-minute lunch)Rate: A per hour rate, in-scope IR35 of£14.29 per hour (PAYE) OR £18.53 per hour (via a Hays Approved Umbrella)Company), in-scope IR35 Key Responsibilities
- Receive, manage, and track IT assets entering the workshop.
- Liaise with distribution and internal teams to resolve asset discrepancies.
- Perform filtration, visual inspections, functional testing, and cleaning of IT equipment.
- Prepare new, refurbished, and repaired hardware for deployment.
- Manage and update tickets within internal asset management systems.
- Maintain accurate asset tracking and location records.
- Support workshop housekeeping activities to prevent backlogs and maintain service levels.
- Assist with urgent investigations and issue resolution as required.
- Support 6S workplace organisation initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Work flexibly across different workshop functions to meet SLA targets and customer requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience supporting or handling IT hardware.
- Knowledge of hardware diagnostics, testing, and fault identification.
- Strong administrative and data-entry skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working in a corporate IT or technical environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Proactive, flexible, and hands-on approach to work.
- Strong team player with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Desirable Skills
- ITIL knowledge or experience.
- Ability to gain OEM and IT industry accreditations.
- Experience using ticketing or asset management systems.
