IT Expert Principal

Join a leading independent technology and services provider as an IT Expert Principal.Job Overview:

• Role: IT Expert Principal
• Location: Hatfield
• Contract: 05-May-26 - 30-Oct-26
• Mandatory check: SC Clearance
• Pay Rates: Inside IR35
• Umbrella Rate: £600/day (via a Hays approved umbrella company).
• Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Monday - Friday.
• Time: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM 

Job Description: The client is looking for an Enterprise Observability Consultant with strong experience across vendor and open-source observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Cribl, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus.Responsibilities

• Lead observability assessments, discovery workshops, and roadmap creation
• Advise on observability strategy, tooling, and best practices
• Design end-to-end observability architectures (logs, metrics, traces, RUM, synthetics, APM)
• Implement and integrate platforms including Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana Cloud, Elastic, and Cribl
• Build telemetry pipelines, dashboards, alerting, and automation
• Perform root-cause analysis and performance optimisation
• Integrate observability with ITSM, AIOps, and event management tools

Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of observability pillars: metrics, logs, traces, user experience
• Hands-on experience with at least two major observability platforms
• Expertise in OpenTelemetry, APIs, tagging, and detection workflows
• Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible)
• 10+ years' experience in enterprise consulting and solution delivery
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills

Desirable

• Observability / CNCF certifications
• Cloud and cloud-native monitoring experience (AWS, Azure, Prometheus, eBPF)
• Experience with ITSM and alerting integrations
