With an ever expanding IT team, plus the upcoming merger with another college, the organisation is looking to further expand their IT team by appointing an IT Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-18 month contract, with potential for further opportunities. Your new role Reporting to the Infrastructure Team Lead, this role is responsible for delivering planned changes and project work on time and to scope, while providing efficient, reactive and proactive support across the IT infrastructure. You'll troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs, maintaining strong communication with stakeholders across the organisation. The position involves creating and updating infrastructure documentation, ensuring compliance with asset management and change management procedures, and using monitoring tools to provide proactive support and vulnerability remediation. You will prioritise IT security in all activities, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support IT projects with specialist expertise, act as an escalation point for junior colleagues, and produce operational reports for IT management. What you'll need to succeed In order to be successful for this position, you will have experience providing third line IT support as part of an infrastructure team, handling escalated incidents and fulfilling change requests. From a technical perspective, you will ideally have experience of VMware, Microsoft 365, Physical and Virtual servers, print management solutions, Active Directory, Group Policy and, ideally, MS-SQL Server. It is essential that you have worked at third line level, and will be ideal if you have experience working in the education sector. What you'll get in return In return, you will be paid a competitive salary of between £34,000 and £42,000, which is dependent on experience providing a high level of IT infrastructure support, and based on sector experience.
