Infrastructure & Security lead Azure

Your new role This is a dynamic and multifaceted role that sits at the heart of infrastructure and cybersecurity operations. You'll be responsible for managing and enhancing both on-premises and cloud-based environments (including Azure, AWS, and VMware), ensuring optimal performance, availability, and resilience across servers, networks, and storage systems. From leading infrastructure projects like migrations and firewall upgrades to providing expert-level 2nd/3rd-line support, your technical expertise will be pivotal. You'll also play a critical role in shaping and safeguarding the organisation's cybersecurity posture - designing and implementing robust security protocols, managing threat detection and response, and ensuring compliance with key standards such as GDPR, Cyber Essentials, and ISO 27001. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with IT support, application teams, and external partners to maintain a secure, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure. What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and newer.
- Proficient in managing Azure services and Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory.
- Skilled in Office 365 deployment and support.
- Familiar with VMware for virtualisation and cloud-based UC telephony systems.
- Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, VPN access, and administration.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls (e.g., Fortinet), intrusion detection/prevention systems, and Cisco networking/routing.
- Knowledge of security best practices, including EDR/XDR platforms and antivirus solutions (e.g., EPO).
- Familiar with identity and access management tools like Azure AD, MFA, and SSO.
- Experience designing and implementing security protocols.
- Comfortable managing cybersecurity incidents and maintaining compliance with standards such as GDPR, Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Involved in systems design and documentation.
- Keen interest in emerging technologies and continuous improvement.
