Legal Counsel
Your new role You will be joining the procurement function as the sole Procurement Legal Counsel based in London, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement. This is a highly visible and influential position where you will act as the key point of contact for all supplier-related legal activity.In this role, you will:
- Lead on the drafting, negotiation and review of a wide range of supplier contracts, with a strong focus on IT, SaaS, cloud and software-based agreements.
- Take full ownership of procurement and supplier management legal matters, working with autonomy and confidence.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across Procurement, IT, InfoSec, Data Protection, HR, Facilities and Finance.
- Work closely with a global peer network, including legal professionals based internationally
- Support major technology initiatives, including AI-related projects, proofs of concept, due diligence, and assurance processes.
- Improve and streamline contracting processes by contributing to templates, playbooks and guidance materials.
- Ensure regulatory and risk requirements are met across supplier engagements in a dynamic and evolving environment.

What you'll need to succeed
- A qualified England & Wales lawyer
- 7 years PQE (guideline only).
- Experienced in drafting and negotiating IT, SaaS, cloud and supplier contracts, ideally within a regulated environment.
- Comfortable working autonomously as the sole counsel in their domain, managing risk and advising senior stakeholders.
- Confident, commercially minded and able to balance legal rigour with pragmatic business solutions.
- Familiar with due diligence, proof of concept structures, and supplier assurance requirements.
- A strong communicator who can build trust quickly and influence decisions at all levels.
- Interested in emerging technologies, particularly AI and digital transformation initiatives.
Experience within financial services, insurance or similarly regulated industries is advantageous but not essential.What you'll get in return
