Principal Systems Analyst Applications

Your new role As the IT Principal Systems Analyst, you'll be the go-to expert for applications supporting Children's Social Care and Early Help services. You'll lead on system upgrades, ensure compliance with statutory changes, and drive continuous improvement across key platforms. This role involves close collaboration with internal IT teams and external suppliers, and includes representing the organisation at national and regional user groups.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 2nd and 3rd line technical support for Line of Business Applications
  • Managing application upgrades and ensuring systems remain on supported versions
  • Monitoring performance and implementing service improvements
  • Supporting change management and contributing to ITIL-aligned processes
  • Advising on technical strategy and application development
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation

What you'll need to succeed

This role demands a blend of technical expertise and sector-specific insight.

You'll need:

  • At least 2 years' experience supporting and configuring Line of Business Applications
  • Substantial knowledge of Children's Social Care and Early Help services, including how technology supports operational and statutory requirements
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Proven ability to manage application upgrades and liaise with suppliers
  • Strong customer service skills, with a minimum of 3 years in an ICT support environment
  • Technical awareness across infrastructure, databases, and application services
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • A commitment to equality, integrity, and delivering high-quality, customer-focused solutions

Desirable:

  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Experience in a medium to large-scale public sector environment
