Risk IT Business Analyst

A Senior Business Analyst will sit within the Group Risk IT team and act as the primary BA representing the Group Risk stream. This role requires strong IT delivery capability, deep understanding of risk data, and experience working within both 1st and 2nd line risk functions.

You will be responsible for defining data, process, and reporting requirements across Market Risk, RepoClear, and Group Risk stakeholders ensuring the correct risk datasets are captured, controlled, and made available across the business.

Duration: initial 6 months Rate: up to £600pd inisde ir35 via umbrella Hybrid: 3 days a week in London-based office Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the business analysis for the Group Risk workstream within a major RepoClear project.
  • Work closely with the 2nd Line Risk team to gather requirements for dashboards, controls, and reporting needs.
  • Partner with the 1st Line Risk team, RepoClear SMEs, and IT teams to define end-to-end processes, data flows, and system interactions.
  • Analyse and document market risk impacts, including margin implications and fixed income-related risk drivers.
  • Work with risk and trading data sets, ensuring they are aligned, controlled, and available to downstream users across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and warehousing teams to define data sourcing, data quality rules, lineage, and access requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into clear IT deliverables for development teams.
  • Support testing, validation, and post-implementation review of new risk technology solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in Market Risk within financial services.
  • Experience working with RepoClear, clearing, or settlement businesses (highly beneficial).
  • Solid understanding of risk data sets, market risk reporting, and control frameworks.
  • Ability to liaise with 1st and 2nd Line risk functions and translate regulatory and risk requirements into technical specifications.
  • Excellent experience working with large datasets, risk data warehouses, and data pipelines.
  • Strong ability to work with data:
    • SQL (ideal)
  • Ability to operate in IT delivery environments - partnering with developers, testers, architects, and data teams.
  • Experience in fixed income products is beneficial.
  • Understanding of margin, risk calculations, and market risk metrics.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in RepoClear or clearing services.
  • Exposure to risk dashboards or regulatory reporting.
  • Technical aptitude with risk engines, data warehouses, or reporting technology.
