Your new company

Join a nationally significant public sector organisation that sits at the forefront of technology, data and customer-focused innovation. Operating across highly specialised and international markets, this organisation develops and delivers trusted products and services relied upon by customers where accuracy, quality and reliability are non-negotiable. With an ambitious growth agenda and significant investment into its product capability, the organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead a strategically important portfolio of products and services. This is an opportunity to step into a genuinely influential role where product strategy directly shapes commercial performance, future investment decisions and long-term organisational success.

Your new role

This is a rare opportunity for an established product leader who wants to operate at the point where strategy, commercial performance and customer value converge. As Senior Product Manager, you will take ownership of a substantial portfolio of products and services, defining its strategic direction while ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of customers operating in a complex and highly regulated environment. You will be responsible for shaping product roadmaps, driving investment decisions and ensuring the portfolio delivers sustainable growth, strong financial performance and measurable customer outcomes. Working closely with senior leaders across the organisation, you will develop and execute portfolio strategies informed by customer insight, market intelligence, competitor activity and commercial opportunity. You will lead business case development for new product investment, sponsor major development initiatives and play a pivotal role in determining where future resources and investment should be directed. Beyond strategy, this role carries significant leadership responsibility. You will lead and develop a team of Product Managers, creating a high-performing product culture focused on innovation, commercial thinking and customer-centric decision making. You will collaborate extensively across technology, delivery, operations, marketing, finance and customer-facing teams, ensuring products are continuously improved and successfully brought to market. This is not simply a roadmap ownership role. It is a position for someone who can navigate complexity, influence senior stakeholders, challenge conventional thinking and make critical decisions that shape the future direction of an entire product portfolio.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be an experienced Senior Product Manager, Product Lead or Product Marketing professional with a proven track record of owning complex product portfolios and driving successful commercial outcomes. You will bring strong experience in product strategy, market analysis, customer insight and commercial decision making, alongside the ability to balance long-term vision with practical delivery. You will be comfortable managing product performance, pricing strategies and investment prioritisation while working within a complex stakeholder environment. Previous experience leading Product Managers and developing high-performing teams will be essential, as will the ability to influence senior decision makers and confidently present recommendations, business cases and strategic proposals at executive level. The successful candidate will possess exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to bring together multiple functions behind a shared vision. Experience delivering digital products and services within regulated, technical, data-driven or specialist industries would be highly advantageous. Above all, you will be a strategic thinker who enjoys solving complex problems, thrives in ambiguity and is motivated by the opportunity to deliver products that have meaningful impact on customers and the organisation alike.

What you'll get in return

This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-profile portfolio within an organisation investing heavily in innovation, product development and future growth. You will gain exposure to senior leadership, influence significant investment decisions and play a central role in shaping the organisation's future product strategy. Alongside a competitive day rate of £660 per day, you'll join a collaborative environment where product management is recognised as a critical business function and where your ideas, expertise and leadership will have genuine visibility and impact.

Additional information

The role is offered on a hybrid basis and candidates should expect to attend the organisation's headquarters in Taunton typically 3 days per week, or more when required. Travel and accommodation expenses associated with attendance at the office are not claimable.
