Site Reliability EngineerDay Rate: £500 - £600Location: Hereford (Hybrid working)Security Clearance: Must have at least SC clearance and be eligible for DV clearanceContract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)We're currently recruiting for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to support the growth and reliability of a suite of cross-domain services used in complex, high-demand environments. This is a key role focused on ensuring service availability, performance, and cost-efficiency across both cloud and on-prem infrastructure.You'll work closely with development and support teams to evolve infrastructure, enhance observability, and proactively mitigate reliability risks.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with software engineers to improve reliability and performanceAutomate operational tasks and reduce alert fatigueEnhance monitoring and observability to pre-empt issuesSupport development environments to meet delivery goalsEvaluate tools and technologies to guide build vs. buy decisionsDevelop expertise across technical and business domainsRequired Skills & Experience:Strong experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef)Proficiency with TerraformHands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift)CI/CD pipeline experience (e.g., Jenkins)Monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB)MQ messaging experience (e.g., RabbitMQ)Solid understanding of SQL and relational databasesLinux administration and shell scriptingFamiliarity with network security protocolsExperience with cloud platforms, ideally AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda)Desirable:Coding experience in Java, Go, Python or similarKnowledge of cross-domain technologiesExperience in service management environmentsPractical application of observability patternsExperience with AzureAdditional Information:Due to the nature of the work, successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting.We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are committed to creating an inclusive recruitment process.If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.
