Technical Author

You will be working for one of the UK's leading telecommunications companies - they need someone to document the technical details of the existing systems they maintain.This requires someone who can talk to the team members - who have already been tasked with delivering some very detailed technical information - and creating diagrams (with some commentary) showing the interactions between the different systems they are working on. You will be dealing with a very wide range of Subject-Matter Experts. These are a busy group of people, so getting meetings with them can be a challenge. The information will predominantly be about IP addresses and ports - so some familiarity with the concepts will be a distinct advantage. To be considered for this contract, you will be able to evidence proven experience working as a Technical Author / Writer and you will be based in the UK (as some of the data involved is not allowed to go offshore). The client needs someone who has authored procedures, policies, or regulatory documents. If you have worked on any documentation involving Telecom or Broadband networks, routers, backup, or logging you should cite this experience on your CV - you will jump to the top of the pile. Conversely, you will be rejected if everything you have authored is software development / API related. Ideally, you will be based in the M3/M4 corridor or capable of commuting and working hybridly in this location. You will be skilled at producing technical diagrams. You will have the ability to distil the information provided and deliver it in a clear form. You need to be detail-focused - this is a situation where the details really matter and similar (but different) data will abound. The expectation is that the documentation you produce will be based on Visio and Word, so strong skills in both are mandatory.
