Technical Delivery Manager
Your new company This organisation operates at the heart of UK defence infrastructure, delivering large-scale facilities management, construction and transformation programmes across key military sites in the South of England. Working in partnership with central government, they are responsible for the delivery and ongoing management of one of the Ministry of Defence's largest long-term infrastructure programmes, supporting thousands of personnel through the provision of modern, purpose-built living and working environments.
With a long-term contract running into the next decade, the organisation is focused on continuous improvement, sustainability and modernisation driving enhancements across both traditional infrastructure and digital capability. Operating within a highly collaborative, multi-partner environment, they play a critical role in evolving how essential services are delivered at scale within a secure and operationally demanding setting.
Your new role This role sits at the centre of IT, ensuring that technology is effectively designed, delivered and embedded across the business to support both operational performance and future innovation. It combines technical leadership, shaping secure, scalable solutions while maintaining a strong focus on service quality and reliability.Working closely with both business stakeholders and the wider IT function. There is a strong emphasis on influencing technical direction, challenging vendors and driving the right decisions from both an architecture and delivery standpoint.
Alongside project delivery, the role is responsible for maintaining a resilient and high-performing IT environment. This includes oversight of connectivity and cloud services, ensuring high availability, strong security and effective incident and change management processes. The role also plays a key part in managing third-party suppliers, ensuring services are delivered in line with contractual obligations and best practice. More broadly, this is a leadership position within the team, supporting the Head of IT in shaping strategy, improving processes, and driving continuous improvement. It also provides mentorship and technical guidance across the team, helping to build capability and reduce dependency risks. With a blend of architecture, delivery, and operational ownership, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in modernising IT, improving how services are delivered, and enabling the business to get real value from its technology investments.
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you'll bring a strong blend of technical expertise, delivery experience and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to operate across both strategic and hands-on environments. You'll have a solid technical background across infrastructure, platforms and security, with the confidence to design solutions, challenge approaches and support delivery at a detailed level where required. This is complemented by proven experience delivering IT projects and driving the adoption of new technologies, with clear examples of positive outcomes for the business.
A key part of the role is working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, so you'll need to demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust, shape requirements, and guide decision-making. Experience managing third-party suppliers is also essential, ensuring services are delivered in line with expectations, contracts and best practice. You'll be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, able to plan effectively, solve problems and anticipate risks before they impact services or user experience. Alongside this, there is an expectation to support and mentor others, contributing to the overall capability and resilience of the IT team.From a qualifications and framework perspective, knowledge of ITIL and formal Microsoft or technical certifications would be advantageous, alongside project management experience or qualifications. Exposure to security, audit, and IT service management environments would also be beneficial, as would experience working within a structured or shared services model.
