Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structured Cabling Engineer to support large-scale data centre and corporate infrastructure projects at the client location in Iceland. This role involves the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of copper and fibre cabling systems, working as part of a project delivery team in a live data centre environment.You will be expected to work to high quality, safety, and security standards while supporting remote network and systems administrators and engaging with multiple stakeholders on site.

Rate: £14.90 per hour (PAYE) OR £19.34 per hour (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company), in-scope IR35 + Overtime pay
Contract Length: 9/02/2026 - 20/02/2026 (High possibility of extension)
Hours: Mon-Fri 08:00 to 18:00 (Night/ shift work/ weekend work may be required on a project-by-project basis.)
Note:
- Breakfast and dinner will be reimbursed.
- Accommodation and travel expenses will be provided by the client.
- Only EU/UK Visa holders will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, termination, and testing of copper and fibre optic structured cabling systems
- Working within live data centre and corporate environments, following strict change and access procedures
- Installation of cable containment systems including:
- Basket trays
- Trunking
- Fibre runners
- Fibre termination and testing using Fluke test equipment and fault diagnosis tools
- Supporting rack builds including:
- Power and data cabling within server and networking racks
- Rack & stack of active networking equipment, including switches, routers, and servers
- Following patching schedules, cut sheets, and design documentation accurately
- Providing on-site support to remote network and systems administrators
- Applying basic IP addressing under instructions and directions.
- Installation and basic configuration of UPS systems (where applicable)
- Maintaining high Health & Safety standards at all times
- Clear communication with customers, project managers, and technical stakeholders
- Working as part of a project team to meet delivery timelines and quality standards
Key Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience within the structured cabling industry
- Strong understanding of structured cabling solutions
- Fully competent in fibre optic installation, termination, and testing
- Experience using Fluke test equipment and diagnosing fibre faults
- Proven experience installing power and data cabling in server environments
- Experience working in live data centres and corporate environments
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions precisely
- Excellent communication skills and professional on-site conduct
Certifications & Training
- Health & Safety qualification aligned to the Construction Industry Training Board:
- CSCS / ECS or local country-specific equivalent
- Minimum of three industry or manufacturer accreditations, such as:
- Commscope
- Corning
- Panduit
- (or other leading brands)
- Completion of a recognised Structured Cabling or Fibre Optic Training Course, such as:
- CNET (CNIT)
- BICSI Engineer or Technician
- City & Guilds
- B-TEC or equivalent
Desirable Certifications
- IPAF and/or PASMA (or local powered access equivalent)
- Equipment - Engineer Supplied
