Infrastructure Engineer (PKI) - Paying up to £450 Per Day, Inside IR35, Based in South Wales, 4 to 6 Month Contract, To Start ASAP

You will be working with a leading organisation that is based in South Wales.

Your new role

We're seeking an Infrastructure Engineer with strong PKI expertise to support a critical upgrade of an enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) environment, moving from Windows Server 2016 to Server 2025.

This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who has personally led or contributed to PKI upgrades or migrations and can step in quickly to help drive the programme forward.

The Role:

- Support the upgrade and modernisation of an existing PKI estate
- Work across Microsoft Certificate Services (AD CS)
- Ensure a secure and stable migration to Server 2025

Review and optimise:

- CA hierarchy (Root & Subordinate)
- Certificate life cycle & auto-enrolment
- CRL/AIA configuration

- Troubleshoot and resolve PKI-related issues during transition
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery

What you'll need to succeed

- Proven experience delivering PKI upgrades or migrations end-to-end

- Strong expertise in:

Microsoft PKI/AD CS
Windows Server (2016 - newer versions)

- Solid understanding of:

Certificate life cycle management
Secure enterprise infrastructure environments

- Ability to operate as a hands-on engineer, not purely advisory
