Job Description
We are seeking a Red Hat Architect to lead the assessment, design, and delivery of a modern Red Hat estate. The role includes current-state Satellite assessment, CIS Level 1 hardened RHEL baseline engineering, creation of a Gold RHEL build and associated build process, automated image creation using Packer and CI/CD, ServiceNow and Ansible integration, and deployment/testing of a new greenfield Satellite environment. The architect will also define architecture and workflows for RHEL bootc-based image creation and life cycle management.

Location: Milton Keynes Remote role with occasional visits

Start/End Date: 13-Apr-2026 to 30-June-2026

Rate: PAYE £550/day (Basic)to £730 via umbrella (Inside IR35)

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 09:00-17:30 The candidate must have an active SC Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess existing Red Hat Satellite deployments and identify remediation and optimisation opportunities.
• Define and document requirements for a new CIS Level 1 hardened RHEL baseline.
• Design and deliver a Gold RHEL build, including standardised build, validation, and release processes.
• Develop and integrate Packer templates for automated RHEL image creation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for RHEL image creation, compliance scanning, testing, and release.
• Implement and support RHEL bootc workflows for image creation and distribution.
• Architect automation and integration using ServiceNow, Ansible, and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Deploy and validate a new greenfield Red Hat Satellite platform.
• Produce HLD/LLD design documentation, runbooks, migration plans, and operational standards.

Skills & Experience

• Deep experience with Red Hat Satellite 7.x and 8.x.
• Strong RHEL engineering expertise, including CIS Level 1 hardening and secure baseline development (OpenScap).
• Experience designing and automating OS image builds using Packer.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms (GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, AAP) for image and configuration pipelines.
• Practical experience with bootc and image-based RHEL build workflows.
• Strong ServiceNow integration experience (API, CMDB, workflow automation).
• Strong Ansible/AAP automation and Infrastructure-as-Code expertise.
• Experience designing and delivering greenfield Satellite builds and migrations.

Qualifications

• RHCE/RHCSA (required); RHCA preferred.
• Experience with SCAP/OSCAP, CIS benchmarks, and automated compliance enforcement.
