This secondary school is based in North Manchester and is part of a large multi-academy trust, with further expansion plans over the coming years and therefore meaning further opportunities for those joining the trust. With a well-established central IT team, the School IT Engineer will become an integral part of the wider IT team, receiving significant support and training, working closely with IT specialists across the trust.
Your new role
Reporting to the IT Service Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network and infrastructure issues, administering systems, installing and configuring equipment, managing service desk tickets through to resolution, and supporting staff and students with day-to-day IT challenges. The role also includes working with third-party suppliers, contributing to IT projects, supporting examinations and controlled assessments, reviewing change requests, producing technical documentation, and identifying opportunities to improve IT services. Working closely with the wider trust IT team, the ICT Technician will play a key role in maintaining a reliable, modern IT environment that supports teaching, learning and operational excellence across the school.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will have strong IT experience, ideally having worked in the education sector, but this isn't essential. You will have experience supporting with hardware, software and bespoke technologies, working in an end-user-facing environment where you've also been involved in supporting IT projects. You will have a proactive approach to IT support, with excellent communication skills and take pride in the high level of IT support you will provide.
