Scrum Master

Location: Telford (2 days onsite per week)
Duration: 6 Months Initial Contract
Rate: Up to £500 per day
IR35: PAYE Only
Clearance: BPSS Required


Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Scrum Master to join a major Tax Administration Modernisation Programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving requirements gathering, backlog creation and agile delivery practices as part of a large-scale transformation initiative focused on modernising a critical legacy platform. This programme will involve disaggregating an existing solution and helping to shape a new modern technical platform. Working closely with analysts,
engineers and stakeholders, you will help establish robust delivery processes and support the creation of a sustainable capability for future development and support.The programme is expected to run for several years, offering the opportunity to contribute to a significant and impactful transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Agile and Scrum ceremonies across delivery teams
  • Lead the derivation and analysis of existing system requirements
  • Drive the creation and management of user stories and product backlogs
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and priorities
  • Support planning activities across multiple workstreams
  • Lead and mentor teams of analysts and delivery professionals
  • Help establish scalable and sustainable Agile delivery practices
  • Collaborate with engineering teams during analysis, design, build and testing phases
  • Support the adoption of SRE best practices, automation and modern engineering approaches
  • Contribute to initiatives exploring GenAI capabilities, including legacy code analysis and code conversion

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Scrum Master within large-scale transformation programmes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent leadership and team facilitation abilities
  • Experience managing complex requirements and analysis activities
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Experience creating and managing product backlogs and user stories
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to drive teams, influence stakeholders and establish new ways of working

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within large enterprise or public sector environments
  • Exposure to application modernisation programmes
  • Knowledge of SRE principles, DevOps practices and automation tooling
  • Experience working with emerging technologies and AI-enabled delivery tools
