About the role

As a Mobile Voice Core Signalling Designer, You will play a key role in designing and shaping the future of the mobile voice core and signalling network. Working as part of the Signalling Design team, you will be responsible for producing high‐quality design requirements across core voice platforms, including IP STP, DSC, and IMS/legacy nodes. You will support signalling‐related projects from concept to delivery, ensuring solutions are robust, customer‐centric, secure, and aligned with network evolution plans.

Shifts: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • You will work within the design team to produce the Signalling Design requirements pertaining to core voice network platforms. This role encompasses the support of service designs on the Voice Core network, including IP STP, DSC (DRA, DEA), and IMS/legacy core voice network nodes.
  • You will have good experience of cellular networks (2G, 3G, 4G, and IMS), networking principles, and associated signalling systems and protocols, including SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP, Diameter, and MAP. Additionally, you will have a detailed understanding of technology standards, traffic, switching, and radio theory/principles.
  • You will help with the development of automated test capabilities for both 5GSA and legacy nodes. Working with the core test team to develop automated testing for call flows to speed up all aspects of testing.
  • The role holder will produce high- and low-level design documents. To include capacity dimension and modelling with close attention to surrounding network elements. In addition, all designs produced are to meet fraud and security requirements and liaison with vendors and TSA as required.

Other stuff we’re potentially looking for:

  • Strong experience designing and supporting Core Voice Network platforms (IP STP, DSC/DRA/DEA, IMS, legacy core voice nodes).
  • Solid understanding of cellular network technologies: 2G, 3G, 4G, IMS.
  • Deep knowledge of signalling systems & protocols: SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP, Diameter, MAP.
  • Strong grounding in networking principles, switching, traffic theory, and radio principles.
  • Hands‐on experience with high‐level and low‐level design documentation (HLD/LLD).
  • Capacity modelling and dimensioning across interconnected network elements.
  • Experience in fraud & security requirements within telecom networks.
  • Ability to support 5G SA and legacy environments, including design input for automated testing.

Design & Engineering Skills

  • Ability to produce signalling design requirements for complex core networks.
  • Experience guiding and validating vendor deliverables (SoR, SoW, compliance docs).
  • Ability to analyse complex cross‐functional requirements and deliver optimal business solutions.
  • Strong ability to work independently, making sound technical judgments in high‐pressure scenarios.
