Senior IT Technician

You will be joining a forward-thinking Multi-Academy Trust dedicated to providing outstanding education across its schools. The Trust places a strong emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and the effective use of technology to enhance teaching, learning, and administration. As part of the central IT team, you'll play a key role in ensuring that staff and students benefit from reliable, secure, and modern IT systems.
The role will be based at a high school in Oldham 5 days a week onsite.
Your new role
As an IT Support Technician (2nd/3rd Line), you will:

  • Provide advanced technical support across the Trust, resolving escalated IT issues promptly.
  • Manage and maintain hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the Head of IT Services and colleagues to deliver IT projects and upgrades.
  • Train and guide staff on IT systems and best practices.
  • Monitor backups, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Liaise with external IT service providers to ensure efficient delivery of services.
  • Support the development and enforcement of IT policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and safeguarding requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in IT support, ideally within education or a multi-site environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, and networking (DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Enhanced DBS
  • A full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel between sites occasionally
  • Knowledge of school management systems (SIMS, Arbor).
