Modern Workplace Engineer

Overview We are seeking an experienced Modern Workplace Engineer to join our IT team, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure environments. You will play a critical role in delivering M365 migration projects, supporting hybrid infrastructures, and implementing modern workplace technologies to improve security, compliance, and productivity. This is a hands-on technical role requiring experience across both on-premise systems and cloud platforms. Youll be involved in project delivery, ongoing support, process automation, and continuous service improvement. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver Microsoft 365 migrations including Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams (including Phone Systems). Support and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments and Windows 10/11 systems. Implement and support virtualization, storage, and backup technologies including VMware, Windows Server, Azure Site Recovery, VEEAM, Acronis, and Datto BCDR. Manage and troubleshoot network and firewall technologies (e.g., Fortinet, WatchGuard, Aruba, Cisco). Configure and maintain security and compliance solutions such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, and Conditional Access. Support and administer Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and wider M365 services. Deploy and manage Microsoft Defender solutions across Office 365, endpoints, and cloud applications. Use PowerShell to automate routine tasks and streamline support processes. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and develop future digital workplace strategies. Enhance system security and efficiency through automation and innovation. Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and third-party vendors. Provide third-line support for end-user computing systems and ensure platform stability and reliability. Engage in ongoing professional development and attend relevant training sessions. Requirements Minimum 3 years' experience delivering and supporting Microsoft 365 solutions. In-depth knowledge of M365 security, compliance features, and administration. Hands-on experience with Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft Defender, and related tools. Strong PowerShell scripting and troubleshooting skills. Effective communicator with a user-focused mindset and collaborative approach. Desirable (Not Essential) Microsoft certifications such as MS-500, AZ-104, or equivalent. Experience working in a managed service provider (MSP) or client-facing role.
