Data Engineer (Azure Synapse & Fabric)

SaaS / Digital Business | Hybrid (2–3 days per week in office)

Salary: £70,000 per annum

Location: London (Hybrid working model)

Overview

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a growing digital team, working on modernising and scaling cloud-based data platforms.

This role will focus on building robust data pipelines, reverse engineering existing data structures and processes, and supporting the evolution of the data architecture within the Microsoft ecosystem.

Key Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse (ESSENTIAL)
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
• Strong skills in reverse engineering data pipelines, schemas, and legacy processes
• Solid programming skills in PySpark, Python, and SQL
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and Data Lake
• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimise data workflows

Highly Desirable

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric (HIGHLY PREFERRED)
• Exposure to modern data architectures (e.g. medallion/lakehouse)
• Experience working in cross-functional teams

Key Responsibilities

• Build and optimise scalable data pipelines
• Reverse engineer existing data models, pipelines, and integrations
• Work with engineering and analytics teams to deliver data solutions
• Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis
• Improve data quality, reliability, and performance
• Support ongoing cloud data platform evolution
