Linux Engineer

Linux Engineer x2 - government client - Glasgow - Hybrid (3 days onsite) - SC/DV Clearance

I have 2x new Linux Engineering roles with our central government client in Glasgow. You will work across physical and virtual environments, supporting either BAU operations or project delivery within an Agile, DevOps-driven setup. These roles suit engineers who take ownership of complex estates and can work autonomously to deliver agreed outcomes.

Due to the nature of the client with are looking for candidates who hold British Nationality and ideally hold active SC clearance and willingness to go through DV clearance.

I am keen to speak with candidates who have

• Background in a similar senior Linux engineering role within a complex IT infrastructure environment.
• Experience acting as a key technical Linux resource across an engineering or platform function.
• Experience with virtualised networking platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Hands-on experience with containers, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Advanced Scripting skills in Bash and Python.
• Strong understanding of HTTPS, SSH, DNS, NTP, SSL and related services and protocols.
• Experience with open-source Ansible automation tooling and systems monitoring for infrastructure.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting capability up to 4th line level, with demonstrable Agile and DevOps experience and familiarity with tools such as Confluence, Jira and Jira Service Management.
