Contract | Inside IR35 | Hybrid (1-2 days per week)
We are seeking an experienced Solaris/Unix Engineer to join a busy infrastructure team supporting a business-critical Solaris estate.
This role will focus on the support, maintenance and ongoing improvement of Solaris platforms within a complex enterprise environment. We're looking for a hands-on infrastructure professional with strong Solaris administration skills and a solid background in Unix systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and maintain Oracle Solaris environments
Perform system administration, patching and upgrades
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues
Develop and maintain Shell Scripts to support automation and operational activities
Work closely with wider infrastructure and virtualisation teams
Support ongoing platform improvement and infrastructure projects
Contribute to system documentation and operational procedures
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong Oracle Solaris administration experience
Solid Unix systems administration background
Shell Scripting experience (KSH, KornShell, Bash or similar)
Experience supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure environments
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience working within complex operational environments

LDOMs (Logical Domains)
SPARC hardware
Linux administration
Storage and networking technologies
Infrastructure migration projects
High availability and disaster recovery environments
Contract Details
Initial contract with strong likelihood of extension
Inside IR35
Hybrid working (1-2 days per week onsite)
Day rate circa £350-£400 per day, with some flexibility for the right individual
