Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial) - AI Infrastructure

Our client, a pioneering deep-tech business at the forefront of next-generation AI infrastructure, is recruiting its first Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial). The role:

Reporting directly to the Director of Legal, this is a high-impact, standalone commercial counsel position with full ownership of the contracting lifecycle. The successful candidate will lead negotiations across customer, supplier, reseller, and partner agreements while building scalable legal infrastructure that enables the business to move quickly and effectively. This role is ideally suited to a commercially minded lawyer who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys building from the ground up, and is excited by the intersection of AI, automation, and legal operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements
  • Own contracts end-to-end, from intake and triage through to execution and post-signature management
  • Develop and maintain templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and scalable contracting processes
  • Implement AI-driven legal workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual review
  • Advise on key commercial risk areas including liability, indemnities, IP, licensing, data protection, warranties, and service levels
  • Partner closely with Sales, Procurement, Operations, and Engineering teams to support commercial objectives
  • Provide pragmatic day-to-day legal advice across the business
  • Manage external counsel relationships where required
  • Support legal technology and CLM implementation projects

About you:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • 6 - 9 years’ PQE
  • Trained within a leading City or international law firm
  • In-house exposure within technology, infrastructure, or deep-tech environments
  • Knowledge of semiconductor, hardware, manufacturing, supply chain, or enterprise technology sectors
  • Familiarity with legal AI tooling and CLM systems
  • Understanding of IP licensing, export controls, and data protection matters
  • Strong track record handling complex commercial contracts independently
  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools and automation within legal practice
  • Commercially pragmatic, solutions-focused, and able to operate with autonomy
