Senior Legal Counsel - Intellectual Property

The role:

A Senior Legal Counsel is sought to join a small, high-impact legal team, working closely with senior leadership. This is a broad, advisory-focused role with exposure across multiple areas of law, including commercial, IP, data protection, ESG, and employment. The position requires a commercially minded lawyer who is comfortable operating in a hands-on environment and partnering with stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice across a wide range of areas including commercial, IP, data protection, ESG, and employment
  • Support complex software licensing, technology agreements, and IP-related matters (including APIs, integrations, and open-source considerations)
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across product, engineering, and commercial teams
  • Contribute to AI-related legal considerations, particularly in relation to product development and use of generative AI
  • Support corporate initiatives including M&A activity and integration projects
  • Assist with building scalable legal processes and supporting business growth
  • Work closely with senior leadership on cross-border legal matters and group-level considerations
  • Take a proactive role in broader business initiatives and risk management

About you:

  • 6–10 years PQE with strong training in Intellectual Property from a top-tier law firm (e.g. Magic Circle, Silver Circle, or top US firm)
  • Background in commercial, technology, or IP law, with strong exposure to software and licensing
  • Experience advising on complex, cross-border matters
  • Interest in AI and emerging technologies, with a proactive and curious mindset
  • Comfortable working in a broad, advisory capacity rather than purely transactional work
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a collaborative, low-ego approach
  • Positive, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset
  • In-house experience within a technology or software business is advantageous
