CHIS/CSAIS Systems Developer

Job summary

The post holder will lead the development, optimisation and integration of digital applications that support CHIS and CSAIS clinical and operational services. This includes designing new digital tools, enhancing existing systems, ensuring application interoperability, and supporting statutory and contractual reporting requirements.

The role provides technical input within the CHIS Digital Integration function, contributing to service transformation, improved data quality, and delivery of the CHIS/CSAIS digital roadmap. The post holder acts as a subject-matter expert, advising senior leaders and ensuring that digital innovations are safe, effective and aligned to Trust and national standards.

Main duties of the job

  • Work on the design, development and implementation of digital applications, workflows and system enhancements that support CHIS and CSAIS service delivery.
  • Provide specialist expertise in system architecture, data structures, interoperability, and application configuration.
  • Lead technical elements of digital transformation projects, including planning, delivery, testing, optimisation and release management.
  • Analyse service requirements and convert them into effective technical solutions that improve automation, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Communicate complex technical information to clinicians, operational leads, GP practices, commissioners and external partners in clear and accessible ways.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with system suppliers, NHS Digital, ICBs, local authorities and other CHIS/CSAIS partners.
  • Provide senior technical leadership to staff, including supervision, mentoring, training and deputising for managers when required.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, SOPs and digital governance processes relating to system configuration, data flow and service innovation.
  • Support business cases, financial assessments and digital investment proposals aligned to the Trust's digital strategy.
  • Ensure all development and system activity complies with information governance, data protection and clinical safety standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience, plus ongoing professional development.
  • NHS clinical services and publics sector stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, solve problems, and prioritise workloads.

Desirable
  • Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use with business insurance (unless the member of staff has a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
