Our client is tackling a challenge where others have fallen short: providing hardware engineering teams with a single, real-time workspace that unifies all their data. Their platform enables engineers to validate hardware in minutes instead of weeks without sacrificing safety or precision.

Since launching in 2022, this company has established itself as a mission-critical resource for some of the most important organisations and companies in the world . In June 2025, they raised a $75M Series B led by Sequoia. They are now building a team in London to serve their rapidly growing list of customers in the region.

One of the first pivotal London hires is the Forward Deployed Engineer This is a software engineering role with an embedded-with-customer edge. You’ll contribute to product development, integrate complex data, build custom tools, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with customers to enable them to accomplish their goals in the product. An FDE's success is measured by customer outcomes.

Job Description

As a Forward Deployed Engineer you will be a pivotal force, directly applying your technical expertise to ensure the company’s customers succeed with the platform and achieve their mission objectives. You’ll be responsible for everything from understanding core user needs to writing code for data integrations and custom applications.

This position requires you to think like a startup cofounder or an early-stage CTO. You’ll dive into ambiguous problem spaces, own solutions end-to-end, and iterate rapidly to deliver impactful results. You exist to enable the company’s customers to unlock previously impossible levels of performance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Building and deploying custom applications, scripts, and extensions to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Designing and implementing resilient data pipelines and integration workflows to connect diverse customer systems with the company’s offerings.
  • Working closely with the Sales and Mission Ops teams to ensure seamless customer handoffs, providing deep technical expertise during pre-sales conversations, and scoping customer engagements effectively.
  • Gathering customer feedback and insights from the field to inform product development, influencing the company’s roadmap, and improving their offerings.
  • Contributing to hiring by sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new engineers.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience designing, building, and shipping software in fast-changing or ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive, “get things done” mindset.
  • A customer-centric approach and genuine passion for solving real-world problems with technology.
  • Excitement to be an early, foundational member of the team building software tools for exceptional hardware engineering teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25–50% to spend time with end users on-site (e.g., rocket test stands, spacecraft clean rooms, automated manufacturing facilities).
  • Active or eligibility to obtain security clearance (UK SC/DV) is a bonus.
