Mechanical Design Lead

Job Title: Mechanical Lead
Location: Dublin or London preferred (50% travel across Europe | Hybrid from Dublin office)
Reports To: Chief Development Officer

A leading data centre developer is seeking a Mechanical Lead to drive mechanical design for hyperscale data centre projects across Europe. This role covers the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning, with a strong focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and reliable, scalable design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design across multiple projects, from early design through construction and commissioning.

  • Develop and maintain the company's Basis of Design (BOD) for mechanical systems.

  • Oversee external design consultants and manage OFCI vendors.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients on tailored Built-to-Suit (BTS) and Reference Design solutions.

  • Ensure alignment with commercial, scheduling, and operational requirements.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of mechanical design experience, including 7+ in industrial or commercial environments.

  • Expertise in data centre systems: air handling, fluid distribution, fuel systems, BAS/BMS, etc.

  • Proven ability to manage design consultants and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Strong understanding of construction practices and infrastructure project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Building Services Engineering.

  • Experience with large-scale data centre projects across European markets.

  • Background in water systems and preconstruction engineering.

  • Familiarity with electrical systems and technical documentation standards.
