Mechanical Design Lead
Job Title: Mechanical Lead
Location: Dublin or London preferred (50% travel across Europe | Hybrid from Dublin office)
Reports To: Chief Development Officer
A leading data centre developer is seeking a Mechanical Lead to drive mechanical design for hyperscale data centre projects across Europe. This role covers the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning, with a strong focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and reliable, scalable design.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical design across multiple projects, from early design through construction and commissioning.
Develop and maintain the company's Basis of Design (BOD) for mechanical systems.
Oversee external design consultants and manage OFCI vendors.
Collaborate with internal teams and clients on tailored Built-to-Suit (BTS) and Reference Design solutions.
Ensure alignment with commercial, scheduling, and operational requirements.
Requirements:
10+ years of mechanical design experience, including 7+ in industrial or commercial environments.
Expertise in data centre systems: air handling, fluid distribution, fuel systems, BAS/BMS, etc.
Proven ability to manage design consultants and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
Strong understanding of construction practices and infrastructure project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Building Services Engineering.
Experience with large-scale data centre projects across European markets.
Background in water systems and preconstruction engineering.
Familiarity with electrical systems and technical documentation standards.
