The Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Java Engineer to play a key role in scaling the Middle Office platform of a world-leading electronic trading system. Youll work on mission-critical backend services, collaborating closely with global teams (including New York) to ensure performance, scalability, and resilience in a high-volume, real-time environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role where youll mentor other engineers, promote engineering excellence, and act as a point of contact for senior stakeholders.

Projects Youll Work On

• Scaling a real-time trading platform: Handle vast growth in electronic trading volumes, ensuring throughput and ultra-low latency.
• Resilience & recoverability: Build fault-tolerant services and recovery systems for mission-critical trading operations.
• Automation & testability: Drive forward engineering practices, embedding automation to ensure reliability and speed of deployment.
• Cross-market solutions: Exposure to multiple asset classes, building technology that underpins Credit, Rates, and wider electronic markets.
• Global impact engineering: Collaborate with international teams, delivering systems used daily across the US, Europe, and Asia.

What Theyre Looking For

• 8+ years of professional Core Java development experience
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, Shell etc.)
• Solid understanding of network programming fundamentals
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers in collaborative teams
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders
