QA Lead - Salesforce & Test Automation
Remote (UK or Spain only) / Cambridge hybrid (UK)
Lead our QA team and shape the move to automated testing.
Arcus is looking for an experienced QA Lead to take ownership of product quality across our product suite. Joining our Product Development department, you’ll define our long-term QA strategy, develop our testing team and lead the transition from manual to automated testing on the Salesforce platform.
This role is open to candidates based in the UK or Spain who have the right to work in their respective country.
Our people are at the core of what we do. We value diversity and different perspectives as essential to creativity, and want everyone to feel welcome, respected and able to thrive.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Initially, you’ll combine team management with manual testing, building your understanding of our products, user journeys and architecture while planning the automation roadmap. You’ll then lead its delivery, designing and developing automated testing that supports our products, customer upgrades and implementations.
Our benefits
Everyone receives Life Assurance and volunteering days. UK-based employees also receive Private Medical Insurance, Pension and health and wellbeing benefits.
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop the team: Line manage, mentor and coach our existing manual testers, setting clear performance goals, balancing workloads and supporting their development.
- Own the QA strategy: Define and deliver the transition from manual testing to a robust automated testing framework, including AI-driven test generation.
- Stay hands-on: Carry out manual regression, functional, UX and integration testing to build product knowledge and help address testing backlogs.
- Build automation: Design, develop and optimise scalable automated test suites using frameworks such as Playwright and UTAM.
- Manage Salesforce testing challenges: Ensure stability across managed packages and custom configurations, addressing the platform’s particular automation constraints.
- Work across teams: Partner with Implementation and Release colleagues to extend automation to customer upgrades and implementations, and communicate QA progress.
- Support documentation: Help write and review product documentation, changelogs and policies alongside the Product team.
What you’ll bring
- Significant experience in a senior QA role, including direct line management of testing staff.
- Demonstrated success moving a QA function from manual to automated testing.
- Hands-on proficiency with modern automation frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium.
- Practical experience of automated testing within Salesforce, including challenges such as shadow DOM, dynamic IDs and locators, and conditional rendering.
- Strong coding skills in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript or Java, alongside confidence working with HTML, CSS and JSON payloads.
- Strong logical reasoning and system-level troubleshooting skills across interconnected cloud environments.
- A thorough understanding of agile delivery and CI/CD pipelines, with experience of tools such as Bitbucket and Jira.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters and write clear documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
It would also be helpful to have
- Management training or qualifications.
- Experience using UTAM (Salesforce UI Test Automation Model).
- Experience implementing AI-driven test generation.
