Access Management Officer

Job summary

This role is to provide an efficient and effective account management service to end users, including processing of access applications, and troubleshooting access related issues.

This role requires close liaison with System managers regarding the access granted on their systems and with regard to streamlining the processes involved.

The post holder will also be required to work as a Registration Authority Agent granting access to national NHS applications. Duties include supervision of junior staff as and when required to meet peaks in demand for access changes

Main duties of the job

Main Tasks Required of the Post Holder

The Post Holder will be responsible for managing and controlling access to multiple systems, including CRS systems, and acting as a Registration Authority Agent for national NHS applications.

They will work closely with system administrators to improve the access allocation process and ensure efficient access management. Additionally, the role involves liaising proactively with stakeholders, maintaining access management documentation, and supervising junior staff.

The Post Holder will also assist in the development and improvement of access management processes, provide guidance to users, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to data protection and security.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths or equivalent relevant experience
  • Level 4 qualification (e.g. Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent) in IT, Digital, Business Administration, Information Security, or a related field OR equivalent relevant experience
Desirable
  • Qualification in IT, Information Security, Digital, or related discipline
  • Formal training in Registration Authority, Smartcards, Identity Management, or IT Security

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential
  • Experience working in an access management, IT support, service desk, or digital administration role
  • Experience of managing user access, security permissions, or system accounts
  • Understanding of information governance, data protection, and confidentiality requirements
  • Experience using IT systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and national guidance to maintain secure system access
Desirable
  • Experience working within the NHS or a large complex organisation
  • Experience acting as a Registration Authority Agent or using NHS Identity / Smartcard systems
  • Experience of auditing, reporting, or maintaining access records and documentation
