About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Data Ops Manager to own the operational excellence of a large-scale Azure data platform. This role is central to ensuring platform reliability, incident management, SLA oversight, cost efficiency, and deployment governance.

You will lead the response to operational issues, drive process improvements, and ensure the platform supports business-critical data operations with stability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day health, performance, and stability of an Azure-based data platform (Synapse, Databricks, ADF, Power BI).
  • Act as the primary escalation point for incidents, leading resolution, root cause analysis, and clear stakeholder communications.
  • Define, implement, and enforce SLAs for pipelines, datasets, and reporting assets.
  • Lead FinOps initiatives, working with business stakeholders to improve cost transparency, accountability, and efficiency across the platform.
  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines and deployments, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant delivery.
  • Champion monitoring, observability, and automation strategies to detect and resolve issues proactively.
  • Develop and maintain operational runbooks, incident playbooks, and escalation protocols.
  • Partner with engineering and analytics teams to align operational strategy with business objectives and platform roadmap.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing operations for large-scale data platforms.
  • Skilled in incident management, root cause analysis, and SLA enforcement.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse, Databricks, ADF, and Power BI.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automation, and reducing manual processes.
  • Strong understanding of cost management and reporting (FinOps).
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and data quality frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate technical issues into business impact.
  • Calm under pressure, with strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.

Nice to Have: Experience with ITIL or formal service management frameworks, data governance tools, regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR), or telecoms experience.
