Senior Infrastructure Engineer

A leading global investment management organisation is undertaking a significant technology transformation, modernising its infrastructure estate from traditional data centres to a secure, scalable and cloud-first hybrid environment.

We are seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in this journey. This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering position focused on designing, delivering and modernising enterprise infrastructure across both on-premises and Azure cloud platforms.

This is an opportunity to move beyond BAU support and become a key contributor to strategic infrastructure programmes that will shape the future technology landscape of a globally recognised financial institution.

Working alongside Infrastructure, Cloud, Security and Architecture teams, you will lead technical initiatives including cloud adoption, infrastructure transformation, hybrid connectivity, modernisation projects and automation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing enterprise infrastructure solutions across data centre and Azure environments.
  • Leading migration and transformation initiatives from on-premise infrastructure to hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Building and managing secure hybrid connectivity between data centres and Microsoft Azure.
  • Enhancing networking, security, identity and governance capabilities across the technology estate.
  • Supporting infrastructure modernisation, automation and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Developing technical designs, implementation plans and infrastructure roadmaps.
  • Improving resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
  • Providing senior technical expertise during complex incidents and infrastructure challenges.

  • Deep understanding of server, storage, virtualisation and compute platforms.
  • Expertise across LAN/WAN networks, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPN technologies and network security.
  • Experience designing highly available and resilient infrastructure solutions.
  • Exposure to disaster recovery, business continuity and enterprise-grade operational environments.

Azure & Cloud Engineering

  • Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Experience building hybrid cloud solutions and connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure.
  • Knowledge of Azure networking, governance, security controls and cloud operating models.
  • Experience with cloud migration, infrastructure modernisation and transformation programmes.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code, automation and cloud-native operational practices.

Security & Identity

  • Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM).
  • Experience implementing RBAC, privileged access controls and least-privilege models.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure hardening, cloud governance and security best practices.
  • Understanding of regulatory, audit and risk requirements within controlled environments.
