The Role

We are looking for a Backend Developer to help build the systems that power Hyalli. You will work closely with our lead developer and founding team to design, build, and maintain the backend infrastructure behind our web and mobile platform.

This is a hands-on role. You will have real ownership over technical decisions and the opportunity to shape how we build from the ground up.

Location: Remote-first, UK based. Occasional travel to Manchester.

What You Will Be Doing

• Designing and building the backend services that power our web and mobile apps

• Building secure, well-documented APIs consumed by frontend and mobile clients

• Modelling and managing data — including personal data — in a way that respects user privacy and meets GDPR requirements

• Contributing to technical decisions around stack, infrastructure, architecture, and deployment

• Writing clean, tested, maintainable code

• Iterating quickly based on real user feedback

What We Are Looking For

• Proven experience with server-side languages — C#, Python, Java, Node.js, or similar

• Strong knowledge of RESTful API development (ASP.NET Web API or equivalent)

• Solid understanding of database design — SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, Entity Framework or similar ORM tools

• Working knowledge of GDPR-compliant frameworks and data protection principles

• Experience with Agile development environments

• Someone who writes code they would be happy to come back to in six months

Nice to have: experience in proptech, fintech, or consumer-facing platforms
