Digital Designer (Middleweight / Senior)
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 DOE
Location: Scotland (Remote with occasional client/team meetups)
Company: Hybrid Anchor
Join an all-senior digital agency building websites, software and digital experiences that make a measurable difference.
At Hybrid Anchor, we don't build websites for the sake of building websites.
We solve business problems.
Every project starts with understanding our client's goals before designing experiences that generate enquiries, improve conversions and support long-term growth.
We're looking for a talented Digital Designer to join our growing Scottish team. Whether you're an ambitious middleweight designer ready for your next challenge or an experienced senior looking for greater ownership, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
You'll be involved throughout the entire design process.
From discovery workshops and client meetings through to wireframes, UI design, prototypes and developer handover, you'll play a key role in shaping digital experiences for businesses across a wide range of industries.
This isn't a production-only role.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, asking questions, challenging assumptions and creating thoughtful user experiences.
You'll often be working across several projects simultaneously, so being organised and comfortable managing multiple deadlines is important.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing modern, conversion-focused websites and web applications.
- Creating wireframes, user journeys and high-fidelity UI designs in Figma.
- Working directly with clients to understand objectives and gather requirements.
- Leading or contributing to discovery sessions and design workshops.
- Presenting design concepts and explaining design decisions confidently.
- Collaborating closely with developers throughout implementation.
- Taking ownership of your own projects from discovery through to completion.
- Managing multiple projects in a fast-paced agency environment.
- Continuously improving our design standards and internal processes.
Essential
- Strong portfolio demonstrating web and digital design work.
- Excellent understanding of UI and UX principles.
- High level of proficiency in Figma.
- Strong typography, layout and visual design skills.
- Ability to think creatively while solving real business problems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking directly with clients
- Ability to ask the right questions and confidently guide conversations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive attitude with a genuine sense of ownership over your work.
- Based in Scotland.
- Previous agency experience.
- Experience designing websites in WordPress or similar CMS environments.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
- Understanding of conversion optimisation and user behaviour.
- Experience creating design systems and reusable component libraries.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
As a Middleweight Designer, you'll already have solid commercial experience designing websites and digital products.
You'll confidently deliver your own projects with support from senior members of the team when required.
You'll be developing your confidence with client communication, discovery sessions and presenting your work while continuing to strengthen your UX thinking.
- Deliver high-quality design work with minimal supervision.
- Manage your own workload effectively.
- Confidently communicate with clients during meetings.
- Ask good discovery questions and gather project requirements.
- Work collaboratively with developers and project managers.
- Continue developing your strategic thinking and UX skills.
Our Senior Designers don't just create beautiful interfaces.
They lead projects.
They think strategically, guide clients through the design process, challenge assumptions and help shape
the direction of projects from the very beginning.
They're trusted to work independently, solve complex problems and mentor others within the team.
- Lead projects from discovery through to delivery.
- Run client workshops and design presentations confidently.
- Translate business objectives into effective digital experiences.
- Handle complex UX challenges independently.
- Mentor and support junior and middleweight designers.
- Contribute to improving our design processes, standards and ways of working.
- Work closely with developers to ensure designs are delivered to a high standard.
- Build long-term trusted relationships with clients.
We're an all-senior team that believes experience matters.
Rather than building large teams of junior staff, we've invested in experienced specialists who genuinely care about delivering exceptional work.
You'll work alongside talented developers, designers, strategists and project managers who enjoy collaborating, sharing ideas and continually improving.
You'll have real ownership over your work, direct access to clients and the opportunity to help shape exciting digital projects that make a measurable impact.

- Fully remote working within Scotland.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Company pension.
