Data Business Analyst

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite)Rate: £685 per day via Umbrella Contract: Initial 6 months

We're supporting our financial services clients Global Markets & Securities Services function with the hire of a hands-on Data Business Analyst to join a small, collaborative delivery pod.

This is a practical, data-driven role You'll work directly with traders, business management, and data scientists, getting into the data to analyse, interpret, and improve how it's used across markets initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse large, complex datasets from markets and securities services environments

• Work hands-on with data using SQL, Python, and Excel

• Build and enhance dashboards and visualisations (Power BI, Tableau, ClickView)

• Support and understand data pipelines, data quality, and upstream/downstream dependencies

• Partner closely with traders, data scientists, and technology teams

• Translate business problems into data-led insights and outcomes

• Operate effectively in small agile pods, managing dependencies and priorities

• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Python

• Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, ClickView)

• Solid understanding of data quality, data pipelines, and data engineering concepts

• Comfortable analysing data directly rather than producing theoretical documentation

• Confident communicator able to engage with front-office and technical stakeholders

• Markets / Global Markets experience preferred

• Experience working with or for software vendors / fintechs / data platforms is a plus
