Radiology PACS Administrator

Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking to appoint 3 motivated and highly organised Radiology PACS Administrators to provide comprehensive administrative and systems support to the Radiology Department. There are three full time (37.5 hrs) posts, one based at Glangwili General Hospital, one at Withybush General Hospital and one at Prince Philip Hospital . Part time and job share hours will be considered.

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and accessibility of radiology data across IT systems, supporting radiographers, consultant radiologists, managers and other clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care. Working closely with the Radiology Systems Manager, you will support the effective operation of PACS, RIS and related systems and respond to both planned and unplanned service demands.

Main duties of the job

Maintain accurate electronic patient records within Radiology IT systems, ensuring data integrity. Independently investigate, resolve and escalate issues relating to missing, incorrect or unidentified imaging data. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, self-organising workload or taking direction from the Radiology Systems Manager and PACS team. Provide training and ongoing support to PACS and RIS users, including during staff induction. Act as a key point of contact for communications with GPs, consultants, patients, service users and external organisations. Prioritise and process requests for image transfers, including urgent transfers, electronic sharing and the production of CDs for medico-legal purposes. Ensure compliance with Data Protection legislation, confidentiality standards and information governance policies. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential
  • Level 3 qualification in an IT based subject (e.g. RSA, NVQ, A Level)
  • Experience of working in an administrative / office environment
  • Knowledge of complex IT databases.
Desirable
  • Experience or knowledge of Programme management
  • Knowledge of Medical / Healthcare Terminology
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of procedures and workflow within the radiology department

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of working in a busy complex environment
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages [Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, desktop publishing and email]
  • Experience of managing spreadsheets & databases
  • Previous experience of working to strict deadlines with shifting priorities.
Desirable
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Experience using the WPAS and WCP System
  • Experience with PACS systems
