Apprentice Service Engineer
Role
Reporting to the Service Manager with in-house mentoring support and Apprenticeship training, the successful applicant will carry out day to day repairs, refurbishments and reworks of products as directed, and flag up quality problems to the service manager. Repairing and technical support across all our HI FI brands.
Key responsibilities:
- You will access and repair, test, as appropriate, returned customer units, under warranty, as chargeable repairs and for refurbishment, on the first-time resolution basis
- You will identify and notify the service manager of any unusual repairs and / or repair trending that has been observed on the bench
- You will log details of the repairs undertaken and all parts used as part of the repair/ test process
- You will test repaired, refurbished, or reworked units to ensure they are fully functional and guarantee the effectiveness of the work undertaken
- You will provide a decision logic about return to stock condition, e.g. A-stock, B-stock, and scrap, based on condition vs fault
- You will rework existing warehouse stock, to agreed specific procedures, as necessary, including any careful unpacking and repacking of cartons
- You will provide telephone or email based technical support for end users and stores as necessary, providing cover for the service admin and customer support specialists, including handing RMA’s
- You will perform any other tasks assigned by the service manager, from time to time, that may involve working in other departments
Training
The practical period is the time dedicated to the development of the knowledge, skills and behaviours for your apprenticeship which includes the following components;
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
The apprenticeship will involve attending college during term time.
In year 1, day release is 3 days in-college and with regular work-based assessments conducted by the College Assessor. In Years 2 and 3, day release is 1 day in-college, then into the 4th year is workplace for End Point Assessment stage.
Once qualified in the apprenticeship and learning hands one experience in the business, we will aim to offer you a permanent role within IAG.
