Director of Investment

The UK Semiconductor Centre (UKSC) is an industry-led organisation whose remit is to strengthen the UK semiconductor industry and build upon its impressive international success to date.

With committed support from government, UKSC will have the time and resources to establish long-term initiatives that will supercharge the success of UK semiconductors over many years. This will positively impact the whole of the UK’s ‘deep tech’ ecosystem and economy.

IC Resources has been tasked with helping to establish the founding leadership team and one of these key hires is a Director of Investment, where you will bring significant ‘deep tech’ investment experience to this role, forging relationships with government, corporate and venture investors both nationally and internationally.

The Director of Investment will lead the UKSC’s strategy for securing and mobilising financial resources to support innovation and growth across the UK semiconductor sector. The post holder will be responsible for building enduring relationships with investors, including the British Business Bank, National Wealth Fund, Venture Capital Organisation, InnovateUK, investment teams and other financial stakeholders. The Director will play a critical role in creating and promoting investment pathways and in nurturing a UK venture capital ecosystem that is receptive to hardware and semiconductor opportunities.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Developing and implementing investment strategies aligned with UKSC objectives
  • Establishing and sustaining relationships with public and private investors at national and international level
  • Promoting semiconductor and hardware innovation as attractive areas for venture and institutional investment
  • Providing financial and investment advice to the UKSC leadership team

You must have s ignificant experience in investment, venture capital, or financial strategy within advanced technology sectors. You will have a strong network across the UK and international investment communities with a proven ability to influence and mobilise funding to support innovation. It would be very beneficial if you have a track record of fundraising within the semiconductor community and an in-depth understanding of the key challenges faced by hard-tech start-ups in the UK.

The UKSC will be based in Kings Cross, London, and will offer a hybrid working model. A 4-day working week may also be an option.
