IT Infrastructure Engineer - 2nd/3rd Line & Networking

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team in Wrexham, providing 2nd/3rd line technical support across a busy, multi-site environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys getting hands-on with infrastructure, networking, cloud technologies and end-user support. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving the IT environment, resolving complex technical issues and working directly with users and stakeholders across the business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong 2nd/3rd line support background, combined with solid networking knowledge and experience across Microsoft and modern endpoint technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support across hardware, software, applications, networking and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network, connectivity, endpoint and user issues.
  • Support and maintain HP/Aruba networking infrastructure, including switching and wireless technologies.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365, including user accounts, services and troubleshooting.
  • Support Azure and cloud-based services within the wider IT environment.
  • Manage and support endpoints using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
  • Assist with device deployment, configuration, security and life cycle management.
  • Work across a multi-site environment, providing technical support to users and local stakeholders.
  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to improvements across the IT infrastructure.
  • Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Assist with infrastructure projects, upgrades and technology implementations where required.
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation and follow IT support and security processes.

Key Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who is comfortable operating beyond traditional service desk support.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong 2nd/3rd line IT support or infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Good practical knowledge of networking, particularly switching, wireless, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience with HP/Aruba networking equipment would be highly desirable.
  • Strong experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot and endpoint/device management.
  • A proven ability to troubleshoot issues across users, applications, devices and networks.
  • Experience supporting users across a multi-site organisation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to investigate issues independently and see them through to resolution.
