Role: ICT Engineer
Location: Bristol | Full-time, on-site with flexible shift pattern
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 DOE
Benefits: Defined contribution pension, 20–25 days holiday + bank holidays, lunch during term time, concessionary education rates
Our client, a leading education organisation, is seeking an ICT Engineer to support and enhance the delivery of ICT services across a complex, modern technical environment. This role is central to maintaining a highly reliable infrastructure and enabling a technology-driven learning experience.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of core server, network and systems engineering activities while contributing to long-term ICT strategy and improvement initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Lead on the maintenance, support and optimisation of server infrastructure and the core network
- Provide escalation support for junior ICT team members and mentor them in developing their technical capabilities
- Diagnose, investigate and resolve complex technical issues, including root-cause analysis
- Implement technical solutions and efficiency improvements under the guidance of the ICT Services Manager
- Manage hardware/software issues with third parties and ensure timely resolution
- Support wider ICT projects, including infrastructure upgrades and development work
- Contribute to standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with safeguarding and organisational policies
You’ll work closely with colleagues across teaching, operations, administration and technical teams to ensure the smooth running and continual improvement of the organisation’s ICT services.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a busy IT support or systems engineering environment
- Strong technical skills across Windows networks, VMWare, Microsoft 365 and Azure AD
- Knowledge of networking (VLANs, TCP/IP, switch and firewall configuration)
- Experience with iPads/MDM, Macs, centrally managed wireless solutions and SQL databases
- Ability to manage priorities, handle pressure and work proactively
